Dr. Betty Mwesigwa is the principal investigator at the Makerere University WalterReed Project (MUWRP), in Kampala, Uganda for Sabin Vaccine Institute’s Phase 2 clinical trial for its vaccine against Marburg virus disease. A physician and long-time researcher, Dr. Mwesigwa has led clinical trials for vaccines and treatments for HIV, Ebola, Marburg, Schistosomiasis and COVID-19. Currently she is also the deputy executive director of MUWRP.
