Trained as a paediatrician, Dr Mwanga has headed the Epicentre Research Centre in Mbarara for the past 10 years and is Associate Professor of Paediatrics at Mbarara University. She recently defended her PhD on the quality of care in private health facilities in Uganda. Her extensive experience ranges from clinical research to leading initiatives to improve healthcare delivery, particularly in the most vulnerable communities, a source of inspiration for future scientists and physicians.
Under the direction of Juliet Mwanga, the Mbarara Research Center has steadily expanded and established its position within the academic and hospital world in Uganda and more widely in East Africa. The Center collaborates with renowned institutions such as the Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST), the Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital (MRRH) and the Ministry of Health and the UVRI/MRC/LSHTM Uganda Research Unit. Juliet Mwanga has fostered the development of partnerships to stimulate research and innovation.
